Mets-Yankees facts? Has any1 else realize that Whenever the Mets get hot the yanks start to suck....and whenever the mets are in a rough streak the yanks get hot. Any1 else realize that beside me ??
Mets trade Lastings Milledge for Ryan Church and Brian Schneider? As a Mets fan i am very dissapointed that we traded one of our top prospects for basically nothing. With all the trade rumors flying around for a top ace, we trade for a catcher(which now we have 3), and a 29 year outfeilder who Minaya thinks still has potential. Milledge is 22 and HAS potential, not to mention the fact we traded him within our own division. Does anyone agree with me that we should of held on to him for some better players, like a top pitcher?
To all Phillies and Braves fans: Please explain to me how the Phillies and Braves are better than the Mets? As a Met fan, I'd like to hear reasons why your Phillies and/or Braves are better than my Mets. I personally think that my Mets are the team beat in the NL East given the fact that we won the division last season and have one of, if not, the best lineups in baseball. As a calm Met fan, I have absolutely have no beef with the Braves or Phillies. The only problem I have is trying to understand Jimmy Rollins' logic in him saying that the Phillies are the team to beat. The Braves had won 14 division titles in a row and the Mets won the division easily last season and are one of, if not, the best teams in all of baseball. The Phillies on the other hand haven't been to the playoffs since '93 and always fall short. P.S. Jose Reyes is so awesome
I am losing my mind over Johan Santana and the Mets? did you see him today on MLB.com in his Mets uniform?! I can't accept the fact that the Mets are going to crush my Phillies. people keep telling me it that one player dosen't guarntee a World series, and I know that (trust me being a fan of the Phillies for so long I should know) but It's driving me crazy i can't stop thinking about it! what are your predictions for the NL east and descriptions please! Hey don't you EVER call me a terible fan. I have been with the Phillies throw the wins and losses and still go to their games even during losing seasons. I am one of the biggest Phillies fans you WILL EVER meet.
real mets ppl? who is a real and true mets fan and not a fair weather fan??? i kno 4 a fact im a true mets fan
Phils or Mets for first place in the NL East? I say phils cuz i am a HUGE phillies fan and because of the fact that they have some pretty good fielders j-roll, utley, victorino, rowand, howard. what do u guys think?????????? even if ur a mets fan, a phillies fan I DONT EVEN CARE IF YOUR A FOOTBALL FAN AND YOU HATE BASEBALL (actually i do and ur in the wrong section but...) JUST PICK ONE!
Who do you think is the best pitcher from your generation? I'm not going to say Roger Clemens due to the fact that he's been playing since the Mets last won the World Series... I'm going to say Pedro. He's been the most dominant pitcher I have ever seen. Having multiple 300K seasons doesn't hurt either.
Arent baseball players terrible role models? Look at the facts: mets win 2006 nl east(what do they do) smoke cigars redsox win world series(what do they do)papelbon chugs beer, and does a drunk dance, while the team drinks in front of little kids not the best people huh? as a baseball fan, i am dissapointed
Johan Santana Goes To Mets For $20 Million A Year. Is Baseball Dead For U Yet? I'm a lifelong Twins fan and today's news that Johan Santana will be traded to the Mets now seals the end of my love for this sport. The owner's, the players, the MLB as a whole, are all about greed and nothing more. Why cant one of these star players just settle for a smaller contract and show the rest of the leauge that the love for the sport doesn't have to be about the money, I thought Johan would be one of these, I was wrong. When will a real hero in this sport just play for the love of the game and not the money. Baseball was my last sport I cared about, I gave up on the NFL and NBA long ago. Im not angry at the Mets for taking him, Im disappointed in the fact Santana wants $20 million a year for at least 6 years, and Im angry that the Mets, or any team, would pay him this. My authenticated signed Santana jersey, baseball signed by all 2007 starters, team photo with Santana, Hunter, Mauer, Morneau, and Gardenhire autographs, will be auctioned on Ebay starting Feb.20th. I'm done. My 2008 season tickets will also be for sale on Minneapolis craigslist by March 1st. They are 2 seats in section 118 just a few rows up from the field. Jay-Ortiz is a great hitter but not much more, I believe he's a DH most of the time and he is not worth 20 million a year. Another ex-Twin gone to a big money team. I know theres other huge contacts out there, I was just focusing on my Twins. By the way, you can thank Moss for your unbeaten season, without him the Pats would be something like 11-5 and would of been out of it already. But at least your not a Vikings fan like I was.
Question for NY Mets fans and WFAN listeners. Will she prove she is a Real Blonde? In the Mets season ticket plan radio add. Kelly Rippa refers to herself as the "Blonde Bullhorn, The Real Blonde Bullhorn". She then goes on to say that you won't find that out unless you buy a ticket plan. Does that mean if I buy Mets season tickets that she will show me that she is really blonde? I'm a Yankee fan and if this is in fact the case I'll go to a few games at Shea! Wouldn't you? Floyd ?? its just an alien?
How does the peter answers web site work? when my friend was over it was telling me all sorts of things that it couldn't of known, my first baseball team, my third grade girl friend, and even then fact that i was MLB power pros for the wii. It knew i was winning by 38 and that i was the mets. but whenever i asked a question it just said that i dont believe or something. If your mediocre team suddenly becomes good, do you like all the frontrunners that become "fans" of your team? Example: I enjoyed a championship for the Mets while I was little. Since then they've been mediocre and downright awful at times, until recently. With Wright & Reyes, plus the signings of Beltran, Delgado, & Pedro, all kinds of people are Mets fans. When that kind of thing happens, do you enjoy the fact that your team is doing so well that more fans are jumping on the bandwagon? Or do these new fans annoy you by never living through the tough times your team has been through? They're only around when things are good. How dare they cheat the game like that? This goes for any sports you'd like to talk about, but I spend more time in baseball and thought the Mets were a perfect example.
If the Giants beat the Patriots will it be the biggest upset in sports history? Personally while I love the Giants and would love to see them win, I don't think any football game can be considered the biggest upset in sports history. The whole idea of "on any given Sunday" refers to the fact that in most cases in a one-game series, the underdog will win once in a blue moon. What I find more impressive is teams that win best-of-seven series from teams that they shouldn't even beat once. Say the 1969 Mets going up against a team with 4 20 game winning pitchers. What do you think? I agree with you on Buster Douglas although again I think that in 10 fights, Douglas loses 9 of them. Now if he could win 6 times out of 10 that would be a huge upset.
Fox Baseball announcers, how bad are they ??? they seem biased towards Mets & Yankees, even when they aren't annouving a game with either team in it. And they are incredibly boring and insult my intelligence with elemenatry baseball facts. agree ? disagree ? Wouldn't you like to have CBS or NBC have baseball's game of the week and World Series/Playoffs instead of Fox ??
Are you ready for some baseball, or is it too soon...Do you have high expectations for your fave team? PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Feb. 29) - Johan Santana received quite a welcome from teammates and fans in his New York Mets debut. Juan Gonzalez and Albert Pujols delivered a different type of greeting. Santana gave up a three-run homer to Gonzalez in the first inning, and the St. Louis Cardinals went on to beat the Mets 5-4 in a spring training game Friday. The Mets stood on the top step of the dugout for Santana when he took the mound to start the game. The crowd chanted his name and cheered his every move. Twice a unanimous AL Cy Young Award winner, Santana gave up three runs and four hits in two innings. He threw for the cycle, in fact - Gonzalez homered, Brendan Ryan tripled, Pujols doubled and Chris Duncan singled off Santana. "Today was definitely good," Santana said. "The fans keep you in the game, they keep you going. They were excited to finally have the opportunity to see me throw. "I'm very happy to be able to perform today. The numbers will say something different, but I feel really good," he said. Santana threw 30 pitches, 22 for strikes, before going to the bullpen and throwing an additional 15 pitches.
2008 Biggest Surprise - National League? disclaimer: I know it's "early in the season" & there are still over 150 games left, no need to inform me & doing so will lessen your chances for BA....... What has been the biggest surprise SO FAR this season? 1. the 6-2 St. Louis Cardinals 2. the 2-4 New York Mets 3. the fact i haven't asked a Cubs question in DAAAAAYS 4. I'm so stunn about the the WINLESS Tigers I can't focus on the NL (note: selecting this will only earn you the 2 freebies, no chance at BA & mess up your BA% 5. other
Can someone explain this to me? I see so many comments on here like, "They might beat the Padres, but they can't beat the Mets," or others like that. Do the people making the predictions not understand the amount of plain old chance involved with winning in a short series? Any team can beat another in a 3-of-5 series. It's a fact of probability, and it happens all the time (Houston over St. Louis last year, the Marlins in 2003, the Giants over the Braves/Cards in 2002), so why do people insist on still saying things like this when they're obviously untrue? Predicting the order of finish over a 162-game schedule makes some sense, but a best-of-5 or best-of-7? I know matchups can be important in the playoffs (eg. young, tired Tigers pitchers against the powerful Yankees), but do you think the best team always wins? Sorry for the rant!
CUBS Fans ONLY! Playoffs? I feel like every year no matter what happens, we're not going to make it. Last night I watched the "red hot" Cubs play like the "first 1/3 of the year" Cubs against the Mets. Add to the fact that Soriano is now out for a month. I really feel like this is as close to getting in the playoffs as we could get. The Cubs were so hot for a month and a half and now they have seemed to just fizzle out. Their wins look like a strain to win rather than better baseball. Why can't things just work out? Also, why is the bullpen so sporatic? Everyone talks about how great the bullpen is, and what numbers they have put up, but I dont see it.
It is possible to have 3+ kids and NOT struggle??? I ask this because the truth of the matter is...i am afraid to have children!! I want my child(ren) to have all their needs mets and I want to be able to provide everything for them...i also believe its is parent's job to be able to pay for their college education since i consider a 18-19 yr old to still be quite young... fact is...everyday i look at people with 3+ children and wonder how in the world do they do it!!!!!!!!!!!...sometimes the mother is not even working!! How can that possibly work this day and age?
Does Julio Franco have super powers? I think he's almost 50 and when the Mets let him play, he doesn't suck. In fact, he still steals bases and sometimes, he'll even hit a home run. What does it all mean? If you say "yes," please elaborate.

Chaperone, bathroom situation, open urinal baseball game.? Well, I am taking a group of high-school students to a baseball game, and I know that there are many stadiums that just have one large urinal, is there any thing I should know before hand about what exactly I should do standing there with all us using an open urinal. I just am not sure if there is anything I need to know before hand. I know we will probably be stopping at a few stadiums, but I know for a fact that we are stopping at the Yankees and Mets. Does anybody know if either of those are just a trough urinal or a bunch of individual urinals?
A-Rod and chemistry? Can someone explain to me what it means when they say that Alex Rodriguez would hurt the chemistry of the Red Sox? What exactly are you talking about, beyond vague references to this elusive "chemistry"? The Oakland A's of the early '70s had horrible chemistry, with a clubhouse full of guys who despised each other and management. That group won three straight World Series. The 1986 Mets had plenty of infighting, and they won. And even the vaunted late 1990s version of the Yankees had plenty of clubhouse bickering and alleged "poor chemistry," but still won year after year. So, how will A-Rod really hurt the Sox' chemistry? By hitting too many homers? Making too many plays in the field? I think you're all crazy not to want him, and would love to see a reasoned explanation - with facts instead of conjecture - about why it would be a bad move. If chemistry is so critical, why do so many with alleged poor chemistry win titles? Could it be that winning breeds chemistry? Kris - I agree, it's critical in sports like basketball and hockey. The Spurs are very talented, but they also have an amazing ability to play together.
Greatest upsets of all time? Team and individual.? In the US I know many consider the Jets winning Super Bowl III over the Baltimore Colts as a major upset (even though it was guaranteed by Joe), as well as the 69 NY Mets winning the World Series (also against a Baltimore team). I think that the US hockey team winning the gold medal at the 1980 Olympics is the biggest team upset. This included their upset of what was essentially a professional Russian team, which had beaten them 10-3 less than a year before. In fact the win against Finland to capture the gold was almost a footnote. In individual sports, I would say Leon Spinks' defeat of Mohammed Ali on Feb 15, 1978. No Olympic champion had ever challeged the reigning world champion with less experience, except for Pete Rademacher who faced Floyd Patterson in his first professional fight in 1956. Though Ali was aging (36) and out of shape, the split decision in favor of Spinks was a shock though the victory was clearly earned. What do you think are the greatest upsets?
ruben gotay? who else thinks the mets shouldnt have placed gotay on waivers?? they say they want to save the spot for brady clarck or tatis which mgiht not be a terrible move but gotay did great last year (despite the fact he is not a very good hitter againt leftys )and he has lots of potential. i think this is gonna come back and bite the mets in the long run what do u think?
