NY Mets no hitters? No NY Mets pitcher has ever pitched a no-hitter. Many former Mets (Ryan, Seaver, Gooden, Cone, etc.) had no hitters for other teams once they left the Mets, but none has ever been thrown by someone wearing a Mets uniform. I remember hearing a story once. In 1962, when the Mets were founded, some company (a candy company??) set up promotions to popularize the new team. This company was going to give various cash prizes to the first Met player to set certain benchmarks --- 30 HR in a season, 20 wins, stuff like that. The highest cash prize was for the first Met to pitch a no-hitter. Well, apparently all the other prizes had been awarded, and then this company went out of business! Who here has had dreams that have literally come true? For example, last year I dreamed that I was waiting for my sister to come and take me to a Yankee game. Should the Mets sign Mike Piazza? I say if the Mets clinch the division by September 25, they should sign Piazza to a 1 day contract. If they already won the division, they don't need to win anymore and can afford to put him in. I'd love to see Piazza retire as a Met, and not just retire because nobody would sign him. I think it would be a great story just to see Mike Piazza wear a Mets jersey one more time and i would cry if this would happen :) He is the best catcher ever and is still my favorite player all time. When Will MLB Get It?!? Perhaps the most exciting and meaningful game of the year was played last night by the Phillies and surging 1st place Brewers. Top story on MLB.Com is "Yankees vs. Royals". Not a mention of Fielders blast or Harts great catch. Mlb dropped the ball in '06, '05, '04, etc. If it doesnt involve the Mets, Yankees or Red Sox (or Bonds) to MLB its not news. They have totally missed the great stories of recent years and wonder why interest in the World Series is down. Duh!!! Sports fans in New York (Met fans especially), are you sick of the "Yankee Bias?"? I swear, every day that I have picked up the New York Daily News, there is always a Yankee picture in the back! Yankees-Red Sox rivalry finally hits the NFL.. eh? While we (fans) here saw this emerging weeks ago.. (A Yahoo writer thinks the roles/tables are reversed with the Patriots in the role of the Yankees and the upstart Giants in the roles of the pre-2004 Red Sox).. Not true. The NE fans see the NY Jets are their 'NY rivals' (of course) everyday and every year.. as Division foes. The Jets however, are equated to the NY Mets around NYC -- same age; played in the same place (named due to LaGuardia Airport being near Shea!!). The Giants had ALWAYS played in Yankee Stadium and are NFL's version of a storied franchise that doesn't forget it's history -- from say a Frank Gifford to a Y.A. Tittle through Spider Lockhardt, Mendenhall, Kotar & Martin & LT and Harry Carson... to Simms, Hampton etc. The Jets? they're owned by a NJ owner for decades now.. the Giants owners are still mainly NY-based.. although sadly, NEITHER TEAM HAS A VERY STRONG NYC PRESENCE. This is the 1st time this rivalry hit the NFL screens.. do you agree? Here in NYC.. the Jets are the Mets... the Yankees are the NY Giants. P.S. -- "NYC's colors" are ORANGE and ROYAL BLUE.. the exact colors worn by the Knicks & Mets.. (if you actually lived in NYC, you'd know that...)... which many NFL fans don't around here, although they'd tell people they're "from NY" (as if New Jersey is NY). Yes, both the Jets & Giants sadly play in New Jersey... leaving Shea and Yankee Stadium for the astroturf and 70,000+ seating, parking of the Meadowlands... (the Jets left later, which is why its called "Giants Stadium"). The Jets have been wholely NJ-owned, too for decades with Leon Hess and now Johnson & Johnson's heirs... Then again, I know 100s of New England and Boston fans -- and have YET to meet a person that says they're "from Boston" that ACTUALLY LIVES IN BOSTON... (all suburbs, there) and PS - The Patriots play about an hour's drive from Boston.. and the NJ Meadowlands is actually 3x CLOSER to NYC than where the Pats play.. FACT.

Question about Major League Baseball...? Long story short, I was a very, very good baseball player and played since day one, and even had Mets scouts talk to me but I quit baseball when I was 19 because my step father took over coaching my team. It haunts me to this day and I am 24. It has been the biggest regret of my life. Anyway, what are my chances of training and actually making it to MLB and forfilling my dream? What's the oldest someone has been who made it to the majors? Thanks

Coach says with all the info he was given he will match up the dates and locations of Vince's trysts to the Superstars. Vince says he forgot about one with a black woman in Kansas City in the 70's. Coachman says he's adopted and from Kansas City. Vince stares at him and says it's going to be a long night. It's announced that MVP has pulled out of his boxing match. It's Matt Hardy vs. Evander Holyfield. Batista and Kane vs. Finlay and Great Khali. The announcers are JBL, Michael Cole and Jim Ross. Kane's ribs are taped. Batista hits the Batista Bomb on Finlay for pin. Cena vs. Carlito later, billed as the Big Apple Showdown. Backstage, MVP says the doctor won't let him box so he got the next best thing. Evander Holyfield asks him how his ticker is. MVP says he was scared for a minute but he's better than anyone else so he's already bounced back. He pals around with Holyfield. John Cena vs. Carlito. The crowd chanted "Let's go Mets/Let's go Yankees". Cena wins via submission with the STFU. Randy Orton attacked him immediately and threw him outside, then into the stairs. Crowd chanted "Randy." Orton got a chair from under the ring. He hit an RKO on the floor into the chair on Cena. Cena sold it like he was dead. Crowd chanted for Orton while women chanted "sucks" in response. Match was whatever. Angle was very good. They showed a young boy looking sad over Cena but once he realized the camera was on him, he started mugging for it. Cena took a long time leaving, holding his jaw. Michael Buffer comes out for the boxing match. Divas are the ring girls. Backstage, Todd Grisham asks Orton what he was doing. Orton said he sent a loud and clear message to Cena as to what he's going to get at Summerslam. He promises to win the title. Hardy has 2 cornermen with him. MVP comes out with an entourage. Evander has his own Titantron video. MVP makes Buffer introduce him first, right down to "straight up ballin'" The crowd did the "What" chant during the referee's instructions! Hardy is wearing a boxing helmet.. Holyield isn't. MVP keeps getting on the apron to give him instructions. Holyfield knocks Hardy down in round one. End of round MVP argues with Holyfield's trainer between rounds. Round two starts and Hardy's acting half out of it. Holyfield tells the ref to check him. MVP gets in the ring and tells him to keep beating up Hardy. Holyfield turns his back and MVP grabs him. Holyfield knocks out MVP. The ref rings the bell. Holyfield left immediately. Hardy left. MVP was left on the mat being checked on by his entourage. No announced decision. CM Punk & Boogeyman vs. John Morrison & Big Daddy V. Tazz joined the announcers for the match. Punk got a big reaction. Good when Punk and Morrison were in. Punk surprised Morrison with a small package for another clean win. Vince McMahon comes to the ring with Jonathan Coachman. Coach gives a long monologue about Vince who cuts him off and tells him to get on with it. Coachman says he's going to help Vince with the child. He says Vince once had a tryst in Kentucky so he is certain this could be his child...and out comes Eugene. Eugene says that he became a wrestling fan because his Mom told him she met Vince. He says his Uncle Eric told him he nailed his Mom and that's why he tried to put Vince out of business. He tells Vince, "I love you Dad". Vince said he used protection and tells Eugene to get out of the ring. Coachman then tells of a story of Vince in a Port Authority bathroom so his son could be...Balls Mahoney. Vince says Balls is not his son. Mahoney tells him to think about it and to embrace it. He says Vince has balls. Vince says "I have no balls". The crowd chants "Vince has no balls". He yells at Balls to leave. Coachman tells Vince of the Wrestlemania 2 afterparty in LA and that this person could be his daughter. Out comes Melina. Vince says that Melina isn't her daughter and cannot be. Coachman asks why not and Vince whispers something. Coach says that's disgusting. Vince tells Melina that the meeting that they had on July 4th was totally harmless. She says that Vince better hope so because if she's his daughter, she will take him for everything she owns. She walks out. Vince demands to know who his child is. Long dramatic pause. Glass breaks and out comes Steve Austin. Austin says Vince could be his dad and Vince says there's no chance in hell. Austin says they missed out on so many good things in life...playing catch, water skiing, building a go-cart, the birds and the bees, drinking beer. Crowd is going "what, what, what". Austin says it would be easy to stun Vince but the big problem is Vince's "overactive grapefruits" so he wants to help him out. He kicks Vince low and low blows him. Austin stuns Coachman and has a beer bash. After they go off the air, Austin asks the crowd if they want to see him drink a beer with Vince. He says it is his first time in the Garden in years. Vince takes it and Austin hits the stunner. Austin does a long celebration. He gives Jim Ross a beer and takes his cowboy hat. Vince and Coach get up. Austin says the only way he's not going to kick their ass is if they sing. Vince asks Coach if he can sing harmony. They badly sing "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". Austin knocked their heads together. He helps Coach up then hits another stunner. PLEASE STAR!!! Rockies V.S. Red Sox? who will win and who will be MVP..... i like this matchup alot i really was hoping itd be the red sox vs mets before the season started... i like dice-k alot wish the mets had him but in the other hand is a cinderalla story with lots of great guys and my uncle lives in colorado so im partial to the rockies how about you and who will win......great ws i think im a mets fan too

holy cow.....holy cow....holy cow? not really a question....just wanted say condolences to rizzuto family.i'm a mets fan but loved to listen to the scooter do yankee games.him and bill white clicked together.and he was a great story teller and a man with a big heart.he will be missed.he was so funny and always laughing.holy cow!

Is this weird? part 2? Fisrt of all, I just posted the first "is this weird" and I wanted to say thanks to all the quick answers. Ok, I'm 14 and have a girl friend. Now this is the weird part. We never spend time together! We met in school and we really like each other but we have never even hung out after school. Every thing we do is over myspace. I even ask her over myspace, then she said how she really felt. I love her(i know people say teens dont know shit about love) she is beautifull, she's a gamer, and a metal head, just like me. but another thing we have in common is.. we are both extremely nervous. We've never hung out, cause of 2 things. 1: I live in pelham park, she lives in throgs neck(thats far, but not the worst) 2: she works, she works at shea(GO METS!!) and shes an art teacher, and like 3 other things, so shes always busy, she says she wanted to work this summer before she met me, I believe her, but my dad(as always!!) talk shit," I'm running out of characters, so long story short- HELP!!!
