In terms of leadership, have the New York Mets ever replaced Keith Hernandez? It's been nearly 20 years since Keith Hernandez has graced the New York Mets' roster (and to most Mets fans, a long 20 years). While he was a Met, Hernandez was the ultimate clubhouse and on-field leader. He was the backbone of the 1986 championship team, and unofficially Davey Johnson's right-hand man (ironic since Hernandez was a lefty). To make a long story short...have the Mets ever come close to replacing Hernandez's leadership? Will they ever?
Sports fans in New York (Met fans especially), are you sick of the "Yankee Bias?"? I swear, every day that I have picked up the New York Daily News, there is always a Yankee picture in the back! I can understand a big story such as landing Roger Clemens or if the Yankees win a big game. However, when they lose....it still makes back cover! There happens to be another baseball team in New York...the Mets, and they have been doing EXCELLENT! First place, great offense and defense but you are lucky to see a small BLIP about them in the back page of the Daily News....if at ALL! This is now getting out of hand! And to be fair, I won't single out the Daily News....the New York post has done its share of "Yankee Bias". I would THINK the papers would be fair here and perhaps COVER a Mets win?? Does anyone else here feel as I do, that this "Yankee bias" is getting out of hand?
What do Mets fan think of the new stadium name? Newsday is reporting today that Citigroup has won the rights to name the Mets' new ballpark, and it will be named CitiField. What do my fellow Mets fans think of the name? I think it's a good name, because it reflects New York and there was no way the Mets would retain the name "Shea" because of the revenue they gained from the Citigroup deal. I'd rather it be named CitiField than something ridiculous like Pepsi Park or Yahoo! Yard. Source - http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-spstadium1111,0,1997391.story?coll=ny-main-bigpix
Who would Detroit want to play in the WS, St. Louis or New York? http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6065990 Who do u think they have a better chance against? I still think that they'll end up playing the Mets with the Tigers winning in 5-6 games. . . . & no, I'm not a fan of either team & definitely not hopping on no bandwagon either, im just curious to see what y'all have to say!!!
Hey METS FANS...want to read something to make you feel better? From one of your New York City Sportswriters, who said (NO...predicted) this just a month ago: "IT'S NOT OFFICIAL, BUT NL EAST RACE IS OVER" "The Mets are merrily on their way to another October." OH, REALLY??? THE STORY: http://www.nypost.com/seven/08262007/sports/mets/its_not_official__but_nl_east_.htm?page=0 Congratulations to.... Pedro Martinez and Juan Marichal attend a cock fighting contest...In poor taste, inhumane, criminal, etc...? http://sports.aol.com/mlb/story/_a/video-of-martinez-at-cockfight-surfaces/20080207005009990001 Video of Martinez at Cockfight Surfaces AP Posted: 2008-02-08 02:39:36 A video of New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez and Hall of Famer Juan Marichal at a cockfight was posted this week on YouTube. Martinez and Marichal laugh before releasing the roosters. The two took part as honorary "soltadores," the word used to describe the person who puts the animal to fight. The animal released by Martinez appears to be killed on the video, which was posted Tuesday. The fight takes place in the Coliseo Gallistico de Santo Domingo (Santo Domingo Cockfighting Coliseum) in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic's biggest cockfighting venue. Cockfighting is legal and popular in the Dominican Republic.
Yankees fans, Red Sox fans, are you excited or depressed? Yankee's fans have been split over the subject of Johan Santana. Some wanted Santana, others wanted to give Hughes and Kennedy a shot, and keep Melky patrolling Center, but now, I ask you... Yankee Fans, > Did you want Santana or would have rather kept the youngsters? > Do you think Wang can handle being an Ace in the New York Spotlight? > Also, we all know that the majority of people believe the World Series will come out of the AL, but now that the Mets have acquired Santana, does that change your outlook on AL domination? Red Sox fans, > Did you want Santana or are you fine with your team as it is? > Also, we all know that the majority of people believe the World Series will come out of the AL, but now that the Mets have acquired Santana, does that change your outlook on AL domination? <sources> http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2008-01-29-twins-mets-santana_N.htm http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7734380?MSNHPHMA And yes, I do know that they For some reason, the last part got cut off. It should say: And yes, I do know that the Mets need to sign a contract with him. For the sake of this question, I'm assuming it's a formality. Why do you hate A-Rod? If it wasn't for him, the Yankees would have missed the playoffs last season for the first time in a very long time! I hate when people like you just copy what other people say. Yankees fans, should like A-Rod. Period.
