Where do the mets stand on greatest colapses in baseball history? I'm a met fan and i just feel like jumping off a cliff right now. I am ashamed of the mets. Absoultly potethic. They are not in a slump they are just a bad baseball team.
Is the METS collapse the biggest is baseball history? I think they were in first in the NL east with 17 games to go. Above should read 7 games in front of NL East with 17 to go.
Who, in the Mets history, has worn #7? I know Reyes wears #7 as did Ed Kranepool...did anyone else ever wear #7?
More games in NY Mets history of no no-hitters or more games in the recent streak of no games with a no-hitter Since Randy Johnson in 2002, there have been no no-hitters. The Mets have never had a no-hitter. If you count all Met games since 1962 and all MLB games since Johnson's 2002 no-hitter, which is longer?
How many wins do you think Santana will have for the Mets? ..............and add a star if you think he has 18 or more!!!!! This is great news!!!! Probably the third greatest trade in Mets' history, behind Piazza and Carter.....
How pathetic are the Mets and the Bosox looking right now!? No one compares to the Yankees, our wealth, and our history. Mets are for poor New Yorkers. their stadium is next to a car junkyard HAHAHA! New York is the Empire state. its for wealthy people like us. Call me arrogant, but thats what I am. Mets got nothing to do with us Move to the Garbage state already! BOSOX Swept METS SWEPT NL is a crappy league. Yanks have a better record then the metros, and still they are in the wild card, which tells you how tough the AL is.
Is David Wright the best third baseman the New York Mets have ever developed? Before Wright, the Mets had somewhere around 40 different thrid basemen in their team's history, mostly from other teams. The best of that group is obviously Robin Ventura, the worst? Take your pick! Basically, unless there is someone else in the 46 year history of the Mets who was better, is David Wright by far the best thrid baseman the team has ever had come up their farm system?
Who can give me some awesome history between the Cardinals and Mets??? I wanna know where facts, fun facts...series records..fights....anything
Who should I support, the Mets or the Yankees? To the most persuasive argument go the spoils ;)? I'm a 14 year old Australian, and I've taken a keen interest in baseball, but I need a team to genuinely support. I absolutely love New York, so it boils down to the Mets or Yankees. I love the Yankees history, but the Mets are an extremely likable team as well. Who should I support, and why? Thanks! :)
THIS MAKES MAY DAY - COMMISERATIONS METS, BIGGEST COLLAPSE IN THE BASEBALL HISTORy!? This will shut up the Met fans who kept saying how Yankees suck and the how Mets are the kings of New York. Let me say it again-I was really happy for this historic collapse. To your face Mets fans. You're historic losers! By the way, I'm the biggest Yankee fan and this was the icing on the already delicious cake.
What is Mets v. Yanks series history? results of regular season games to date
Biggest bust in MLB history besides Mo Vaughn with the Mets, Lenny Dykstra with the Phillies, and Albert Belle with the Orioles, was Chan Ho Park with the Texas Rangers. Homeboy made around 50 million in parts of 4 seasons from 2002-2005 with the Rangers and only won 22 games, that's more than 2 million per win. http://www.baseball-reference.com/p/parkch01.shtml Albert Belle was a bust for the Orioles, because they signed him to a 5 year contract, and he only played 2 seasons - 1999-2000. He got paid almost 40 million more for 2001-2003, 3 years that he was technically retired, but didn't announce his retirement because he wanted to get paid, he was injured. http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/belleal01.shtml Same exact thing with Mo Vaughn with the NY Mets. He made around 47 million dollars from 2002-2004, but only played the 2002 season and briefly played in 2003. http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/belleal01.shtml Same thing with Lenny Dykstra with the Phillies. He signed a 24 million dollar contract to play with the phillies from 1995-1998. But he only played a total of 102 games from 95-96, and sat out 97 and 98, but still got paid his full 24 million. http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/belleal01.shtml
Mets - Biggest Choke in sports history? What changes will be made in the offseason?
Does anybody have any excuses for the Mets, on the worst collapse in major league history? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap;_ylt=As_fm2ODPAKQFT3h6yFs9ic5nYcB?gid=270930121&prov=ap
Which joke was bigger the Mets or the Yankees? I definitley think the Yankees was the biggest choke, never been done in any professional sports history. I still smile remembering those yankee fans that day with their poor little sad faces
Do you think the 1994 Rangers is the greatest Stanley Cup run in the history of the NHL in terms of excitement I say so, but then again I'm a Rangers fan... I think its the greatest run in the history of sports...better than the 96 Yankees, 86 Mets, 07 Giants, etc. I know a Rangers fan who says there have been better ones, but I think thats a bunch of bullcrap... what do you think?
NY Mets Omar Minaya wanted an all Latino lineup? The end result was the biggest choke in MLB history. Next time, he'll sign guys who arent washed up Latino players.
Why is a team like the Cubs given more respect than the Braves (read details)? It seems like a lot of people think the Cubs will overtake the Brewers however the same respect is not given to the Braves who have handled both the Mets and the Brewers this season thus far. The Cubs can hardly even beat the Mets. So the Braves have gained ground on the Mets and looking at past history this season they will easily pass the Mets when they face off H2H in August and September. The Braves are 2 GB in the East and the Cubs are 5.5 GB in the Central. The Braves and Cubs are split 5-5 H2H The Braves are 6-3 against the division leading NYM. The Braves are 2-1 against the Brewers. The Cubs are 7-5 against the division leading Brewers. The Cubs are 1-3 against the NYM. The Braves have winning records against every division in the NL, the Cubs have 0! So if you seem to think the Cubs will win the Central then how can you think the Braves will not do the same in the East? I can't wait for September 20-23. I'm willing to bet you at worst the Braves will come out with a split in the four game set. I will be definitely looking out for you TOM B, come that time.
Yankees or Mets? whos better Yakees or Mets in baseball history?
What if Tom Seaver had started Game 4 (Read On)? In the 86 WS if healthy Seaver in his final season was slated to start Game 4 vs. the Mets at Fenway instead of Al Nepper. What if Seaver was healthy. Would he have turned in a gem for the ages by turning back the clock vs. his old team or showed signs of his age. How would that gm affect history?
Who do you most want to beat? Based on which hockey team you root for, which NHL team do you most want to beat? Wings fans: Remember: The Avalanche aren't even in your division, and the animosity only goes back to 1996. Your team had 70 years of history before that. Wings-Avs is no more a real rivalry than Mets-Braves. I'm a Devils fan, so, in my case, it's Rangers first, Flyers second.
Who are the mets # 1 rivals? Braves or Phils? Before the end of the season it would be the braves? but with the Phillies winning the division does that make them the mets main rival now or does the Brave/Met Rivalry have too much history behind it?
Family of four (two teenagers) with 7 days to vacation in New York...What would you do? Okay....some background here. We will be going to The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Metropolitan Museum of Arts, The Cloisters, MoMA, St. Patricks Cathedral, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, The American Museum of Natural History and The Empire State Building. We will try (cost permitting) to make a Broadway musical and a Yankees or Mets game. We are not into clothes shopping. I want to go to Zabar's and everyone wants to go to Greenwich Village. Please don't suggest Tavern on the Green or Delmonico's as I cannot take out a second mortgage for the sake of a five star chef.
Joe Torre had a terrible record with the Mets, Braves and Cards. I think my mom could win with the Yankees... Is Torre a good manager or simply a product of the right situation? Not looking at his playing career, is he the most overrated person in the history of professional sports?
Why do people like the Cubs if they have such a screwed up history? Since 1908 the Cubs have fallen victim to many things. 1925 The Cubs finish last in the National League for the first time. It won’t be the last time. 1929 The Cubs return to the World Series, again facing the A’s. The A's win the first two games, but the Cubs win Game 3 3-1. The Cubs build an 8-0 lead in Game 4 before Hack Wilson loses a fly ball in the sun in the seventh inning, opening up a 10-run inning and the Cubs never recover. 1932 Babe Ruth hits his called shot to win game three against the Cubs. 1945 Chicago tavern owner Billy Sianis brings his pet goat, Murphy, to Game 4 of the series but is asked to leave when the goat’s odor bothers nearby fans. Sianis allegedly casts a curse on the Cubs, who lose the series in seven games. 1948 Cubs finish last 1959 Cubs finish last 1961 Cubs finish last 1966 Cubs finish last 1969 "Amazing Mets" crush the Cubs '70, '73, '75, '77, '78 Cubs blow 1st place seasons late '74-'02 miscellaneous losing '03 BARTMAN '07 LOL icemanbb5858, nice response, where'd you come up with that? (sarcasm)
Is this the most revered team in New York sports history? My top 10 list: 1. Giants in 2007 2. Rangers in 1994 3. Yankees in 1996 4. Jets in 1968 5. Mets in 1986 6. Giants in 1986 7. Knicks in 1970. 8. Giants in 1990 9. Yankees in 2000 (we beat the Muts!) 10. Dodgers in 1955. People are going to be talking about the 2007 Giants for years and years and years because they upset an undefeated (18-1*) team. The Rangers in 94 are two because they broke the curse and New York REALLY needed that. Thats probably the greatest sports moment of my life. Yankees in 96 was a LONG time coming and they came back from 0-2 down. Jets in 1968 because of the guarantee and how big an upset it was. The Mets in 1986 really united the city and that was miraculous how they won. The Giants in 86 was a long time coming. The Knicks in 1970 were a great team and the Willis Reed game is incredible. The Giants in 1990 was improbable. The 2000 Yankees because of how they beat the Mets and gave Yankees fans permanent bragging rights. And the Dodgers because the y moved so quickly after and that was also a long time coming.
Jose Reyes did something last night no other player has done in New York history. What was it? This includes the Mets, Yankees, Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants.......Jose Reyes was the first player to accomplish this feat.
In MLB who usually wins more in interleague baseball American league or National league? For example if New York Yankees play New York METs who usually in history has the stronger game the American league or National league? Are the games usually high scoring?
Could you please give me the best player in the History of baseball for each team? Like the best player to have ever played for the team. One player per team. Do each team( if you can) NL EAST: Mets:Tom Seaver Phillies: Dale Murphy Marlins: Gary Sheffield Braves: Hank Aaron Nationals: Pedro Martinez NL CENTRAL: Cubs: Ernie Banks Cardinals: Lou Brock Astros: Craig Biggio Pirates: Roberto Clemente Brewers: Hank Aaron Reds: Pete Rose NL WEST: Rockies: Larry Walker Diamond Backs: Randy Johnson Padres: Tony Gywnn Giants: Willie Mays Dodgers: Jackie Robinson AL EAST: Yankees: Mickey Mantle Redsox: Ted Williams Baltimore: Cal Ripken Jr. Toronto: Joe Carter Devil Rays: Wade Boggs AL CENTRAL: Tigers: Al Kaline Cleveland: CY Young White Sox: Shoeless Joe Royals: George Brett Twins: Walter Johnson AL WEST: Angels: Nolan Ryan Oakland: Dennis Eckersly Rangers: Sammy Sosa Mariners: Ken Griffey Jr. Well theres eveybody.
Baseball History? In 1967, who was the New York Mets outfielder that batted his way to 40th place on the runs batted in chart??
Who Would Win? (MLB history)? Which team would come out on top in 2007 1962 Mets 1952 Pirates 1940 Phillies 1899 Cle. Spiders O.k., if some of you just have to have Yankees in every g*d Dumned discussion I'll ad the 1966 Yanks.
cubs or mets? who has suffred more in history?
What team other than a rival team do you hate the most? As a Yankee fan I can't pick the Sox, Mets, or Angels. Other thatn them I hate the Dodgers, too many good teams and too many good players over the Dodgers' history. I don't like a team that takes the spotlight off mine.
Yankee, Mets and Red Sox Staduim layouts?? We are taking our 10 year old son to see the Red Sox, Mets and Yankee stadium this year before it is gone. We live in California and need to know the layout of the Stadiums. Are there any areas we would want to avoid buying tickets to if we want to be able to walk around the stadium and enjoy the history? (Example - At Dodger Stadium if you buy tickets for the outfield area you can't go anywhere but the outfield.) Thanks for your help!
In the 65 year historyof the Polo Grounds in New York who were the only four players to ever hit a home run.? Who were the only four players in history at the polo grounds to ever hit a home run over the city field bleachers, a very "short" 510 ft. to the wall, ugh!!!! It happened twice in 1963 when the Mets were playing there.......
What do stuck up met fans have to say now? are they still pounding their chests or are they hiding in shame? the mets & their fans are now the proud owners of the biggest collapse int he history of baseball & i couldn't be happier.
Hey Mets fans!!!? It must really suck to see your beloved team record one of the biggest collapses in sports history! I mean to have a 7 game lead with 17 games left?? It must really suck!! GO CUBS!!!
Any other Cubs fans out there die a little inside after 2003? I thought the Cubs juggernaut would just steamroll their way through the World Series. We had Prior, Wood, and Zambrano pitching great and a well-balanced lineup with Lofton, Womack, Sosa, Alou, and Ramirez to score a ton of runs. Then the Bartman ball and Gonzalez's double-play error, and the whole team just fell apart. And not to the Cardinals, Braves, Mets or other good team, but to the Marlins. A team with no history or even fans. And now the Cubs haven't been consistently good ever since, while we've watched the Red Sox and even the White Sox win the Series the following two years. No wonder the Cubs and their fans are so angry and frustrated; we can't even buy a winning team when we had plenty of talent already. I feel like Lieutenant Dan on the floor crying to Forrest Gump about how I was cheated out of my destiny.
Do you love the METS ?????????? words marked? Read my post history, i guarantee a game, and it happens !! Magic happens at shea. I can not say at this point if i can guarantee a mets win for game 7. I will know about the guarantee by 3pm tommorow. GO METSSSSSSSSSSS
What NY Met fans are as nervous as I am having Oliver Perez start this game tonight? Is he the worst game 7 starter ever in the history of the NLCS. Please no steve Trachsel in long relief tonight. Lets Go Mets.
AFLAC Trivia Question / Mets-Phillies / 22 July 2008? I DVR'd the game after the question, and still managed to miss the answer somehow. QUESTION: What was the last National League team (and year) to have three players hit at least 30 home runs within the first 100 games of the season. (According to Gary, Ron and Keith, there have only been three NL teams in history to do so.) Thanks! This one's burning a hole in my brain.
mets fans what do you think of chan ho park signing? the biggest free agent bust in history! gave up two grand slams in the SAME INNING to the SAME BATTER. gave up the bonds record breaking homerun. gave up the cal ripken farewell homerun in the all star game. only won 15 games before the big scott boras contract.
How Would They Stand? (MLB history)? Under 2007 conditions and rules how would these teams look in the standings? 1906 Cubs 1966 Yankees !969 Mets 1942 Cardinals 1919 White Sox 1922 St.L Browns 1982 Brewers 1968 Tigers 1970 Reds 1965 K.C. A's 1966 Yankees?? Youve got to be kidding. The Boyscouts? I dont remember that team. Were the in the American Association?
If the Giants beat the Patriots will it be the biggest upset in sports history? Personally while I love the Giants and would love to see them win, I don't think any football game can be considered the biggest upset in sports history. The whole idea of "on any given Sunday" refers to the fact that in most cases in a one-game series, the underdog will win once in a blue moon. What I find more impressive is teams that win best-of-seven series from teams that they shouldn't even beat once. Say the 1969 Mets going up against a team with 4 20 game winning pitchers. What do you think? I agree with you on Buster Douglas although again I think that in 10 fights, Douglas loses 9 of them. Now if he could win 6 times out of 10 that would be a huge upset.
What do you think is the greatest championship run in the history of sports? I think its one of the following: 1955 Dodgers 1968 Jets 1969 Mets 1970 Knicks 1986 Mets 1986 Giants 1991 Giants 1994 Rangers 1996 Yankees 2007 Giants and unfortunately, probably the 2004 Red Sux. What do you think? What do you think is the greatest championship run in sports history, in terms of excitement, significance, etc. 1994 Rangers was absolutely incredible. Greatest sporting moment of my life. I have the Jeffery Maier game on my ipod and you can hear Bob Euker in the background going, "OH" when he takes the ball away. Classic sports moment. The '98 Yankees were great...but we knew they were going to win the World Series so it wasnt as exciting as any of the ones I listed.
Are the mets the most exciting team in baseball or what???? I was at the met game tonight and the mets are the team to beat in the N.L and they are a fun team to watch also who agrees with me. Oh and the made history tonight hitting 2 lead off homeruns in the first inning...not to mention the pitcher "el dueque" stold a base LOL hog rider i would like to agree with you but you are in your own world my friend tigers, angels, indians, twins and the red sox are the most boaring teams in baseball with the exception of the indians...you gotta go young my friend and since you dont know how to spell i will capitalize the most exciting team in baseball for ya....M E T S
