What are your thoughts on the New York Mets acquiring Johan Santana from the Minnesota Twins?

  1. good fit.. he will fit in good with the system.. they need to make sure they dont give up too much though
  2. Dog poop this is just as crappy as the Celtics/Wolves deal in basketball...Mchale giving up Kevin Garnett to his beloved Boston for one solid starter (AL Jefferson) and a bunch of marginal role players who wouldn't be in the league 4 years from now... whats going on in Minnesota? their sports teams GMs are giving up hall of fame caliber players to new york and boston (2 huge markets) for basically jack squat in return I hope he blows out his shoulder or gets in some kind of funk that he never wakes up from and keeps them away from the playoffs oh yea they have to give him a contract extension too...how bout a 6 year 120 mil contract? that'll fsho gut the team (The Carl Pavano of the Mets perhaps?) Mets fans Its still not gonna make a difference just watch he will blow out his shoulder or choke down the stretch in the second half and another season, another miss of the playoffs is gonna happen...just watch Baseball gods won't let this slide...
  3. Awesome trade for the Mets, they didnt give up anybody.
  4. the mets didnt even give up anyone, it was a good trade for the mets
  5. 6-7 years for 150 million????? he wont last that long.....enjoy him for a year or two he will get hurt. No pitcher diserves a deal that long. waste of money.
  6. I feel this is an extraordinary boost to the mets rotation. You can't lose when you're getting arguably the best pitcher in baseball. First off, Gomez is Gomez. He very well will blossom into a very nice outfielder and that's not enough to lose out on the Johan oppurtunity. Even with losing our 3 young pitchers, you're still setting yourself up for the future. Guerra is extremely young, and Humber has only showed signs of not being ready. In the end, even if some of our pitchers blossom in Minnesota, we will all be happy with Johan at the top of our rotation.
  7. one of the most lopsided deals that i have ever seen. Johan Santana is a dominant, middle of career, overall great pitcher. traded him was not a mistake, but only getting back prospects is not. they should have made a deal that would get them more than just prospects. as for the Mets, all of my previous predictions are now null and void, as it comes to the NL playoffs, they will now beat the Padres in the NLDS and the Dodgers in the NLCS, but they will loose to the Sox in five or six. What makes you people think that he will get hurt? He is a very healthy player on a year in and year out basis.
  8. Great for the Mets as a Yankee fan I dont mind keeping Hughes, melky, and the prospects and I am glad he isnt on the sox. The Twins had much better deals from the Yankees (best) nd the Red sox 2 offers. I think it is trade on the twins side but I can seeGomez becoming a 300 avg, 20 hr, 60 sb guy. Mulvey could be a number 2 or 3 starter, Humber has had some arm problems but he can be a 3rd or 4 starter, the other guy is way 2 young to tell how good he can be but I heard he has a killer fastball
  9. The Mets should do better & how times did the Red Sox Nation say that they would end up with Santana. I know that many Yankee fans said the same thing, so both Red Sox & Yankees get to keep their young talent on their respective teams.
  10. hes a good fit in ny and should help then win the N.L. but i think the twins should have got more then they did
  11. I'd say there are a few too many questions about this... People, why not TRY to READ other questions on the subjects and their subsequent answers, rather than spamming up the section?
  12. PISSED OFF. Im a twins fan and im speachless on how lopsided this trade may potentially be. four prospects for the best pitcher in the league? I would have been fine with him going to the yanks or red sox. at least some of the players they offered could be in the majors this year.
