- Ed Kranepool?
- Ed Kranepool in the Mets first year as a major league franchise (1962) was the youngest player to ever play in a Mets uniform. He was 17 years old. He was also the youngest player in the National League that year. Dwight Gooden (19 years old, 1984) and Greg Jeffries (19 years old, 1987) were the 2nd and 3rd youngest. Since 1962, Kranepool is one of only 4 players to debut in the majors at the age of 17.
- The Mets just signed 16 year old Francisco Pena to a minor league contract. He cannot turn pro until he reaches 17.
- It was ed kranepool but now you have to take into account the 16 year old that they just signed, so the answer can go either way.
